Researching ingredients

It’s so important for someone that has Celiac’s Disease to find out whether there is gluten in any item they consume.  Otherwise, accidental contamination can be a regular occurrence and create major health problems.

There are many ways of researching a products ingredients.

  1. Keep a safe/non-safe ingredient list (such as the one on, then read the labels and match up the ingredients.
  2. Google it: There are lots of ways you can research whether a product contains gluten (or use bing, yahoo, etc) by typing “gluten free’ as key search terms with your products name, you can find sites with the allergen information you’re looking for.
  3. Call the 1-800 number on the packaging and if the person you speak to can’t give you the information immediately, ask them to get back in touch with you once they find out.
  4. Get the gluten free scanner app downloaded on your phone and scan your product to see if it’s legal.

If you are not  sure about something…my recommendation is DON”T EAT IT!!  It’s not worth the risk.
